The venue of the Éden 2 x CAC Show is
Csempeszkopács
The village of Csempeszkopács is located in Vas county, 16 km southeast of Szombathely, on both sides of the main road 87.
People have been living in the village since Roman times. This is evidenced by the fragment of a tombstone found under the floor during the excavation of the church, as well as the large Roman bricks built into the church. Csempesz and Kopács were also first mentioned in 1273. The first mention of Kopács IV. It is done in the charter of King Ladislaus. Csempesz was first mentioned in the form of Chempezfolua in 1329. Both villages belonged to the commoners. From the 16th century it was temporarily owned by the Protestants. At this time Kopács was owned by the Bothka family, while Csempesz was owned by the Csempeszház family.
Csempeszháza and Kopács merged in the middle of the 19th century. At the end of the 19th century, the opening of the Szombathely – Rum railway line and the construction of the elementary school resulted in a significant development in the life of the settlement. In 1910, Csempeszkopács had 313 Hungarian inhabitants.
On March 31, 2014, the former No. 9 was inaugurated. a renovated railway watchtower and a memorial exhibition open there. There is a cycle path on the former railway track today, and a memorial plaque has been inaugurated between the cycle path and the watchtower.
The most important attraction of the village is the Church of St. Michael. The 13th-century Romanesque church dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel Kopács is a nationally famous monument built on an artificial hill. Fragments of medieval frescoes unearthed in the church can still be seen in the church. Its furnishings were made in the 18th century, and one of its paintings was painted by István Dorfmeister.
The late renaissance small castle Balogh stands on Csempesz,, which was once owned by the kuruc leader Ádám Béri Balogh. The castle was built in the late 16th century in the late Renaissance style and in the second half of the 17th century in Baroque style. The collection of the Local History Museum was also located here in 1976. The museum is called the Zoltán Pungor Museum in memory of the teacher who did a lot for the settlement since 2007. In addition to several exhibitions on local history, you can also see the memorial room of the Ybl-awarded architect Antal Károlyi, as well as the mineral and rock collection of geologist Károly Ferencz, his memoirs in Africa.
A few dates from the life of the village:
The annual rainfall is 700-800 mm.
The number of sunny hours is 1600-1800 hours / year.
The prevailing wind direction is north-west.
Field culture of the village border: cereals (winter wheat, rye, autumn and spring barley, oats), other crops (potatoes, corn, fodder and sugar beets, red clover, purple clover, alfalfa).
Fruit culture: richer in the Kopács part (apples, pears, walnuts, plums, apricots, peaches, swinging, cherries), more modest selection in the Csempesz part (apples, pears, plums, cherries, sour cherries, walnuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts).
The kitchen garden culture is rich but requires watering.
By 2000, large-scale livestock farming was completely reduced in the village. Currently, a few yokes and sport horses, a few pieces of cattle represent the wealth of the pre-1970s.
Domestic livestock is represented by the presence of pigs, goats, sheep, hens and ducks. The population is approx. 5% live off agriculture. Most employees look for and find a job in nearby Szombathely.
The large game population of the nearby forests is very rich. Deer, wild boar attract hunters. Of the small game, the rabbit and the pheasant are the most common.
The bird world is represented by storks, swallows, owls, falcons, buzzards, meadow eagles, songbirds (thrushes, titmouse, robins, etc.), sparrows, starlings and crows.
