The venue of CAC shows for shepherd and herding dogs and Saint Vendel CAC Show is
Tápiószentmárton village
Tápiószentmárton is a large village in the county of Pest, in the district of Nagykátai. It is the village with the largest population in Alsó-Tápió-mente. The easiest way to reach it by car is from the side road that branches off between the 54th and 55th kilometer sections of highway No. 4.
The settlement has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the Scythian golden deer, a shield ornament from a princely tomb unearthed in its borders in 1923. (The original is in the Hungarian National Museum, a copy can be seen in the Blaskovich Museum in Tapioszele.) The first known documented mention of the settlement dates from the middle of the 15th century, in 1459. At that time, the territory of the village was owned by the Pányi-Gáldi family and István Werbőczy. It was depopulated when the Turks withdrew.
Among its later owners, the Blaskovich family gained the greatest fame. Among the members of the well-known family, Bertalan Blaskovich also stood out, who in the first decades of the 19th century participated in the launch of the journal Aurora (1822), edited by Károly Kisfaludy, and significantly supported domestic horse racing. His son, farmer Ernő Blaskovich Ebecki, raised the famous stud, in which the competition mare Kincsem was also raised.
Kincsem, also referred to as the „miracle mare”, was born in Tápiószentmárton, the most successful competition horse in Hungarian equestrian sport; the name of the horse park and the Kincsem Museum operating in the park keep the memory of this. The horse park has a wine cellar, golf and mini-golf courses, an indoor riding stable suitable for holding competitions, an international standard NB I football field, a tennis court, an indoor pool, a wellness area, a playground, an animal show area trained to show backyard animals, and even a hotel with an apartment with a restaurant and a conference room. In addition to all this, there is also an airport suitable for receiving small planes in the area of the equestrian park.
The Attila hillock is a small rise of a few meters in height. The Scythians erected such mounds, so-called kurgans, over the tombs of their leaders, of which there are many all over the Great Plain. It is no coincidence that it was beneath the surface of this mound that found the archelogists Blaskovich brothers the famous Scythian golden horn in 1923. It is believed that the wooden palace of King Attila the Hun once stood here, and even his tomb may have been here. That’s why it got the name Attila hillock. The place has been under national archaeological protection since 2000. The hillock is nowadays considered by many to have a special energy and healing properties. This is based on several arguments, such as the fact that Kincsem’s former runway was on this very spot and that the horse got his miraculous powers from here. But the stronger argument is a recent observation. The stud’s vet noticed 20 years ago that horses graze on this small pile with great pleasure, and sick animals lie there for hours. He linked this to the fact that the recovery rate of the animals here is much better than anywhere else in the country, and that the pregnancy rate of the horses is higher than average. So it’s no wonder that word of the healing hillock spread quickly. Measurements commissioned by the Kincsem Riding Park have indeed shown a beneficial energy radiation. The National Institute for Radiation Biology also measured here, but they found no discrepancies.
A walking path with a small wooden bridge leads to the hillock, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the landscape and the horses grazing all around. The hillock has been nicely landscaped with grass and birch trees as an important part of the horse park. There is a pavilion with a wooden roof and several benches for relaxation and meditation. A few metres further down, along the footpath leading to the central building of the park, is a bust of King Attila with a memorial headstone. It is also worth walking further around the park, admiring the grey cattle, racehorses, mini zoo, tidy stables, obstacle and show jumping courses and the 200 horses grazing around the stud farm. Afterwards, another highlight of our historic walk is a visit to the Treasure Museum, born from the private collection of the equestrian park.
The museum was created based on the thoughts, wishes and ideas of János Kocsi, the owner of Kincsem Lovaspark, and from the objects of his collection. My treasure, in honor of the 125th anniversary of the birth of the wonder mare was handed over on March 20, 1999, as the new gem of the riding paradise of Tápiószentmárton. When the museum was created, the primary goal was to commemorate Kincsem, a native of the place, the thoroughbred wonder mare, whose performance is still unique to this day: she won 54 races in a row in 4 years.
Kincsem, the unbeatable, the invincible \”miracle mare\” was born in 1874 in Tápiószentmárton, on the estate of Count Ernő Blaskovich. My treasure is a legendary figure in the history of thoroughbred breeding. His performance, which in the world since then has not been achieved by any competition horse, earned him fame and respect not only for his owner, but also for the entire Hungarian livestock industry around the world. During his life, he traveled half of Europe by train. He achieved his greatest successes in Hungary, Austria, Germany, England and France. Between June 21 and October 29, 1876, he competed and won in Prague, Hamburg, Hanover, Frankfurt, Baden-Baden, Vienna, Sopron and Budapest.
Secondly, the museum will present the history of all existing equestrian sports, and thirdly, it will present the life of the old Tápiómente and Tápiószentmárton – with pictures and objects – in the framework of a local history exhibition. In addition, visitors can see a small collection of weapons and competition prizes.
There are Catholic, Lutheran, Reformed churches and chapels in the settlement, one of the latter, the so-called Blaskovich Chapel, built in 1768.
The village also has a beach and a thermal bath with medicinal water. Those wishing to relax are welcomed with 4 pools (children’s, medical, swimming and spa pools), a sand soccer field, a children’s playground, massages. The spa’s 52 °C thermal water (alkaline-hydrocarbonate-chloride thermal water) emerges from a depth of 650 meters. The medicinal water has a general pain-relieving, calming and sleep-improving effect, but it can also be used to treat various skin diseases, and it is extremely effective in the treatment of degenerative wear-and-tear musculoskeletal diseases, as it reduces the activity of rheumatic processes. According to experience, it can be used with success in the follow-up treatment of more serious injuries, mainly associated with limited mobility. Due to its alkaline-hydrogen content, it can be recommended for locomotor and gynecological pathologies, and due to its chloride content, it also has a general strengthening and resistance-enhancing effect. Since 2003, the water of the spa has been officially classified as medicinal water.
