The city of 2 x CACIB International Dog Show is

Herend

Herend is located 14 km from Veszprém, at the confluence of the North and South Bakony, on the banks of the Séd stream, in a pool surrounded by hills.

According to the first records, the place has been inhabited since the beginning of the 1300s in the form of smaller settlements, but its population can be dated to the 1700s, as evidenced by the historical finds found here. At that time, its inhabitants lived off agriculture, viticulture and logging.

In the 1820s, a pottery factory was organized in Herend, organized by Stingl Vince, and its boom dates back to the 20th century. From the mid-1900s, in the post-war period, production increased significantly in the porcelain factory, so the town began to develop significantly through its world-famous hand-painted porcelain, and by the end of this century, Herend porcelain had become known throughout the world.

The settlement, also known as the „porcelain city”, has now grown into the largest porcelain manufactory in Europe. The fabulously hand-painted Herend porcelain Hungarikum is part of the Hungarian heritage. The Herend Museum of Porcelain Art hosts more than 100,000 visitors a year.

In „Porcelainium” the visitors can look behind the scenes and learn about the secrets of porcelain making. The fabulous porcelain was originally used in aristocratic castles, assigned to mansions. Within the framework of an annual traveling exhibition, those interested can enjoy the beauty of porcelain in their original surroundings in the renovated Hungarian aristocratic castles.

We can too relax and hike around the city: climb the Hajag hill to get to know the local fauna and flora, suck up ourselves full of fresh air, and search for traces of recent events.

Come and visit us too, the organizers are waiting for you!
