The city of the 3 x CACIB Dog Show is
Szentlőrinc
The town is located 20 km from Pécs at the mouth of the Bükkösdi Valley, which separates the Mecsek from Zselic.
It is a settlement of Árpádian origin, named after the convent of the Knights Templar, which was located along the Okor River. After the dissolution of the Templar Order in 1312, it fell into the hands of the Johannites. He was set on fire several times during following the battle of Mohács. In 1550 and 1579, the town of Szentlőrinc was the center of the Szentlőrinc district. Szentlőrinc was in the XVIII. it has been a manorial center since the first decade of the 20th century. In the middle of the century, it became one of the headquarters of the estate complex of Prince Miklós Esterházy. Szentlőrinc received the rank of district seat from 1773. During this period, the administrative, jurisdictional, health, commercial and public education institutions of the large village were built.
The favorable geographical situation, transport conditions and the expansion of the economic-administrative role caused the continuous growth of the population of the settlement. Trade has been significant in the settlement since the construction of the railway lines. Its passenger and freight traffic made Szentlőrinc a commercial hub. The war years marked a break in the development of the settlement, but in the XX. century. by the beginning, however, the population exceeded 2,000 and then rose to over 3,000 by the end of the decade following World War II. The population of the large village has doubled in two decades and is approaching 7,000.
Szentlőrinc became a micro-regional center in January 2004, and gradually took over the administrative, official, health, educational and cultural tasks of the twenty settlements belonging to its district.
Among the sights of Szentlőrinc we should mention the Esterházy Castle, built in 1718, which is currently under monument protection, but was in a neglected condition for a long time. It was renovated in 2006 and has been operating as a town hall ever since.
The first school of the settlement was built in 1795, it was expanded respectively rebuilt several times. It gained its present form in 1907 and also enjoys monument protection. It was renovated again a few years ago, and the house of culture has been operating here ever since.
The Reformed Church of the small town was built in a rather rare architectural style (Transylvanian castle church) in the country, which was started to be built in 1935 and consecrated in 1937.
Outstanding among the city’s cultural offerings are the series of Lőrinc-Day events, which start on August 10 every year, the Lőrinc-Day farewell, and the Farmers’ Days, which have been held since 1994. Gazdanapok is now the most important agricultural exhibition and fair in Baranya County, in which, in addition to the farmers, processors and sellers of the county and the country, more and more foreign exhibitors and interested parties are participating. This series of events offers a pleasant weekend program not only for professionals but also for families visiting here.
The venue of the 2 x CAC dog show is the BMVK Exhibition and Event Center, with a floor area of 81,000 m2. The Centrum also has indoor exhibition halls and grassy open spaces. Parking spaces are directly connected to the area, as well as full internet access (WIFI coverage is provided).
